14 CAREER EDUCATION Accounting Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced Become employment ready, or earn col- lege units at Mission College by complet- ing our three-series accounting courses with a “B” grade or better and continue on your journey to earn an accounting de- gree. At the end of the three-semester se- ries of accounting courses, you will be able to perform the following accounting clerk functions for sole proprietorships, part- nerships, and corporations: Analyze daily business transactions and journalize, post, and adjust the general ledger; prepare, an- alyze, and interpret financial statements; perform end of fiscal period adjustments and close the books. Students new to accounting begin with Accounting 1A. Placement in B and C require consent of the instructor or completion of the prior course (1A or 1B). Students will enter daily business transac- tions, create reports, maintain accounts, and create a new QuickBooks company file from scratch. Students can validate their QuickBooks knowledge at the end of the semester by becoming an Intuit QuickBooks Certified User (QBCU). No prior accounting or bookkeeping experi- ence required. Full-Charge Bookkeeping Validate your experience to an employ- er with certification! A full-charge bookkeeper is one who per- forms all of the accounting tasks of any small business to include journalizing and posting daily and end of fiscal period business transactions including payroll, human resources, and office manage- ment. At the end of the semester students will have the opportunity to become cer- tified via an online exam. The certificate reads {Certified Full Charge Bookkeeper} and it will be an independent verification of your skills for potential employers.
