The curriculum consists of 20 theory hours and 20 clinical hours. Students receive 20 Continuing Education Units (CU) toward CNA certification renewal.The intent of this curriculum is threefold:To promote quality of care in the home care settingTo provide entry-level skills for employment as a home health aideTo expand the role of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) as a paraprofessional.Admission Requirements:Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).CNA Certification and CPR must be current.Health screening and TB test must be current (less than 6 months). CNAs give patients important social and emotional support and also provide vital information on patient conditions to nurses. You may work in hospitals, nursing care facilities, or community care facilities for the elderly. The 175 hours includes classroom instruction, skills laboratory, and clinical training. Upon successful completion of the program, students will take the State Certified Nurse Assistant examination at a Red Cross facility. The techniques taught follow recommendations from the American Safety and Health Institute and are highly recommended for teachers and parents. CPR This is CPR for lay responders and for coaches. Instruction includes adult, child and infant resuscitation, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for adults, children and infants and choking techniques. This is a great class for parents, babysitters or anyone who is interested in CPR skills and techniques.
