31 The Commemorative Program offers a unique oppor- tunity to provide funds to support and enhance Santa Cruz County Parks. Donations toward a commemora- tive feature honoring a loved one, celebrating a mile- stone, or demonstrating your community support are tax deductible. Commemorative Program donation options feature such items as trees, benches, picnic tables, pavers, and beautification of County parkland. Native tree species and specific bench and picnic table types are available for placement in County park, coastal access and beach locations. Specialty commemorative fea- tures and/or projects may be made available, subject to approval by Parks staff. Visit scparks.com for more information or to download an application. A huge THANK YOU to California State Coastal Conservancy for awarding County Parks a grant that made it possible to provide coastal: access, exposure, recreational opportu- nities, hands-on educational experiences and stewardship-building. Twenty-three Latina middle- school-aged participants ex- plored the coast with us during summer/fall 2019. Activity highlights included: swim les- sons, tidepool exploration, beach cleans, a bike ride along the coast, kayaking, Hydrobike rides in Elkhorn Slough, and an overnight at the Monterey Bay Aquarium!
