SIMPKINS FAMILY SWIM CENTER - YOUR COUNTY POOL 7 l Children who are non-swimmers must have direct adult supervision, at an arms reach, at all times. Age 8 and under must have direct adult supervision in the locker rooms and on the pool deck. l Admission is first-come, first-served. All persons en- tering the pool area are required to pay an admis- sion fee. Please call (831) 454-7960 in advance if you have a large group. l Glass containers are not allowed. l For those not yet toilet trained, we adhere to a 2-layer policy. A disposable swim diaper and tight-fitting swim suit with elastic leg and waist bands must be worn. Both items are available for purchase at the Swim Center. l Please do not bring water toys or floatation devices to the pool. l Swim program hours may vary from those listed in this pamphlet. l All fees are subject to change. l Programs may be cancelled for special events, un- usual circumstances or severe weather. l Please visit www.scparks.com to view the most current pool schedule, fees, pool closure dates, and other information. The Simpkins Fam- ily Swim Center first opened to the pub- lic in the summer of 1998. It is open 7 days a week, year- round. The center has four pools, as well as a slide, Wibit inflatable (pictured), and climbing wall, all of which are open seasonally. The 78-degree 18-lane Lap Pool , which is the largest in Santa Cruz County, is used for lap swim- ming, swim lessons, swim teams, water polo, jun- ior lifeguards, adult fitness and water aerobics. The Recreation Pool is used for recreational swimming, swim lessons, and therapy, and is kept at 88 degrees. It features a zero-depth entry ramp for easy wheelchair access. The Splash-down Pool is used to catch kids (and adults) at the bottom of the two-story corkscrew slide. The fourth pool is the Spray Zone -- its splash and spray features and 6-inch depth make it a perfect pool for tots. Recreation Swim This is a time for children and adults to come and enjoy some fun in the pool. During summer, the climbing wall, Wibit inflatable play apparatus, warm water pool, water slide, and the 50-meter pool are available. See the current pool schedule for water slide and climbing wall hours. Lap Swim Lane availability varies throughout the day. Circle- swimming may be required during the busiest times, 6- 7:30 AM, 12-1:30 PM, and 4-6 PM. Please follow lap- lane pace indicators, posted lap-swim etiquette and lifeguard direction. Ages 7- 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the same lane and be able to swim 25 yards (1 length) without stopping. Kick- boards, pull buoys, and exercise equipment are available for lap swimming and warm-water pool exercise. Pool Parties Private pool party rentals are available March through Oc- tober, on Saturdays and Sundays after the pool closes. Packages vary according to group size and pool(s) re- served.
