The 17-acre pond is located at the Water Reclamation Facility along Windsor Road. The solar array covers about four acres and consists of nearly 5,000 individual solar panels resting on interconnected floats. The array is to produce 95 percent of the elec- tricity used onsite by the Water Reclamation Facility, the Geysers Pump Sta- tion, and the Public Works Corporation Yard, thereby avoiding excess energy generation that would not be salable. The Town partnered with Ciel & Terre USA and CA Odevi to fund and build the system, both Petaluma-based companies and leaders in floating solar sys- tem technology. In 2017, the Town Council approved separate 25-year lease and power purchase agreements, paving the way for the project and allowing the Town to purchase the generated solar energy at a fixed, lower rate than the cost of PG&E grid power. Since the Town does not own or maintain the system, no Town funds were required for construction or ongoing maintenance.
