It’s a friendly discussion with fellow readers, a great way to jumpstart your week. Expand your mind reading a variety of material both fiction and nonfiction. Lend your ear and your voice to this enthusiastic group. This class meets every other week. Aerobic Rhythms 84.1010.31 Join us for low impact exercise routines choreographed to music that will energize your body. Class will emphasize toning, stretching, and cardio fitness. Please bring a mat. Class meets in Ballroom on Wednesdays. Clay Arts 81.1025.31 Students will explore using clay to make beautiful pottery for their homes, such as vases, plates bowls etc. We will be using slab technique and low fire clay and glazes. Students will also learn how to load and fire the kiln. Approximate costs: $10 for tools, $10 per bag for clay and $15 optional firing and glazing, payable the first day of class. Conversational Spanish, Advanced 89.1023.31 Explore a variety of everyday situations using your Spanish language skills to communicate useful information. Students will find interactions helpful for travel or business. This class advances toward fluency through oral practice and is best suited for students who have completed in-depth vocabulary studies. Read and discuss stories, novels, news articles, and more, to increase your comprehension skills. Deepen your understanding of colloquialisms, idioms, and other common usages. Class discussions will clarify meaning, examine grammar constructions, and increase vocabulary. Readings are intended for intermediate to advanced students. Spanish Advanced Textbook: Practice Makes Perfect Spanish Verb Tenses and Spanish Pronouns and Prepositions by Dorothy Richmond. Conversational Spanish, Intermediate 89.1022.31 Explore a variety of everyday situations using your Spanish language skills to communicate useful information. Students will continue forming sentences, paragraphs, questions. The verb ir + a, querer, tener and their idioms are studied. Negative and interrogative words and sentences included. Discussion of cultural readings. This class advances toward fluency through oral practice and is best suited for students who have completed in-depth vocabulary studies.Textbooks: Spanish Now, by Ruth Silverstein, 8th Edition with CD’s and Practice Makes Perfect Spanish Pronouns and Prepositions by Dorothy Richmond. Yoga helps to strengthen your body and increase your vitality. Experience greater flexibility and balance. Wear loose-fitting clothes and bring a yoga mat and blanket. Knitting, All Levels 85.1011.31 Come and enjoy an afternoon of knitting! Instruction includes reading patterns and graphs, new stitches, solving common knitting problems as well as helpful hints. Beginners: Please bring #8 needles and a ball of “Sugar and Cream” yarn to class. Intermediate knitters: Please bring an unfinished project or a new project to class. Tai Chi (Qigong) 84.1017.32 East meets West in this class. Gentle movements increase flexibility, strengthen and condition joints, ligaments, and tendons. Will boost energy, expand endurance levels, and help increase concentration and mental clarity. Fun, safe, and easy. Barbara Brown is a studio potter and teacher whose home and studio are in Sunnyvale. She has taught at local art centers since 1973 and was awarded her lifetime teaching credential in 1984. As a clay artist and teacher her goal is to create objects for flowers and food that communicate beauty, peace and tranquility for home and office. She enjoys inspiring students as they travel along their pottery path.
