QIGONG/TAI CHI Qigong: Chinese Movement for Health Qigong is an ancient Chinese movement practice designed to support self-healing and restore well-being of the body, mind and spirit. Emphasis will be on awakening the feeling of chi in the body as we focus on simple and relaxing qigong movements to relieve tension, improve concentration, and boost the immune system for a healthy and joyful season. NO CLASS: 7/1, 8/12. Instructor: Linda Scheer BEGINNER: Learn new ways to RELAX, REVITALIZE, and HAVE FUN. Tai Chi is flowing, gentle, and slow movement. It helps with balance, strength, and mental focus. Drop-in fee: $16. INTERMEDIATE: The class covers Qigong warm-ups, the Tai Chi stance principles, the short long integrated form applications, and partner work. The individual begins learning the basics and the form. Partner work/contact happens only when the student is comfortable with it and is approached without force. This class requires instructor approval. Drop-in fee: $17. ADVANCED: The Advanced class goes through the entire Nan King Integrated Tai Chi Chuan long form. Partner work/ applications play happen only when the student is comfortable with it and is approached without force. This class requires instructor approval. Drop-in fee: $17. It trains the body as an integrated whole by focusing on postural alignment, abdominal and spine stabilization, mind/body control and strength throughout the complete range of motion in all joints. Regular practice will improve your fitness and result in stronger, longer, lean muscles. Increased core strength, flexibility and awareness will lead to efficient movement and help reduce the risk of injury. Please bring a pilates mat to class. Drop-in fee: $17.
