Sizzling Seniors A dynamic non-impact aerobics class that encourages the active senior to develop cardiovascular/respiratory conditioning, endurance, strength, flexibility and coordination. Instructor: Beverly Myers Location: Los Gatos Youth Recreation Center – Room B Tai Chi Chuan The gentle movements of Yang style Tai Chi are practiced by millions of people for health, relaxation, and self-defense. Tai Chi is originally a martial art with applications of the movements for everyday self-defense. Instructor: Ken Andrade TAI CHI CHUAN I: This course focuses on the first seven movements of the Yang Style Long Form, which are then tied into a self-contained and complete practice that students can do at home. TAI CHI CHUAN II: This course is open to students who have completed a Tai Chi Chuan class or know the first section of the Yang Style Form. This is an ongoing class that meets year-round where students learn the complete 108 movement Yang Style Long Form. He is a certified instructor of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan traditional 103 form. NO CLASS: 5/20, 5/23, 7/1, 7/4. Instructor: Mingyang Li BEGINNER: This class is for those who have little knowledge of the Yang Family Tai Chi. They will start to learn the basic skills of Yang Family Tai Chi and the first section of 103 Hand Form. Students will learn 16 movements throughout the class. INTERMEDIATE: After students have completed the “Beginner’s” course, they will be able to continue learning the rest of the 103 Hand Form of Yang Family Tai Chi. TEST PREPARATION: Students who have completed 103 Hand Form, and want to take the Rank 1 test. Students will polish their 103 movements under the guidance of the teacher. Classes start with Silk Reeling Exercises, a set of spiral stretches and rotations to open all the joints and promote muscle relaxation and flexibility, before instruction begins in the 1st form of Chen Tai chi. ADVANCED: Exploring the internal energy of the 1st and 2nd form postures in depth, integrating with the external movements. Applications for the postures will be covered. Students have the option of learning these weapons: Jian (straight sword) and Dao (saber). Drop-in fee: $20. NO CLASS: 7/4.
