It is helpful for you to complete the Math GSP at home before you attend a First Semester Planning session, so you can jump to talking to a counselor about your math choice. Go to the Assessment Center website to learn more about how the Chabot Assessment Center can help you place into classes that match your skills and experience.: www.chabotcollege.edu/Counseling/assessment/ T he first-level transferable math courses are MTH 31*, 36*, 37*, 41 (Spring only), 43, 47; PSY 5; and BUS 19. MTH 31, 36, and 37 are for students who need calculus; general students should choose another course. It works well for students who have not completed the course prerequisite and/or feel they could benefit from additional class time for review and developing study skills. • MTH 43 students who want additional instructional support must enroll in a designated section of MTH 43 and a linked noncredit workshop MTH 243W. The two matching sections must be taken together. It is recommended especially for MTH 43 students who are new college students with HS GPA is less than 2.3. • PSY 5 students who want additional instructional support may enroll in any section of PSY 5W workshop (0.5 unit) in addition to any section of PSY 5 (4 units). It is recommended especially for PSY 5 students who are new college students with HS GPA is less than 2.3. Noncredit Option for Math Courses: For MTH 53 and 55, noncredit options are available as MTH 253 and 255, respectively. See the comparisons below to choose the version for you. CREDIT: MTH 53, 55 • $46/unit • Satisfies the competency in mathematics requirement for the associate’s degree AND the Communications & Analytical Thinking area of the GE requirement. • Counts toward minimum units.
