Tennis Todd Dissly Athletics – Tennis NO CLASS: 9/6, 9/7. Instructor: Todd Dissly Athletics Staff MINI TENNIS: An introductory program for the young athlete. Fundamental ball skills, movement and coordination exercises will be included. Using the Quick Start Format – age & skill appropriate rackets, balls & court, and a games-based approach to learning – your child will learn the proper fundamentals to enjoy the game. RALLYBALL I TENNIS: Come out and play tennis with your peers and friends, while learning basic fundamental tennis skills, this program is designed to be beginner friendly. Using the Quick Start Format – age & skill appropriate racquets, balls & court, and a games-based approach to learning. RALLYBALL II TENNIS: Previous Rallyball experience required. The format includes practice and match time. Players will continue to improve their movement, tracking and rally skills – but will also play more points and learn strategy and scoring. RALLYBALL PRACTICE AND PLAY: Designed to be a supplemental class for players already taking our Rallyball 1/2 skills classes. Organized practice and play gives players an opportunity to get extra practice and game experience to develop mastery and move to the upper skills and higher competition levels. This is not recommended as the players only class during a session unless they have already participated in the Rallyball 1/2 classes multiple times previously. 14U HIGH PERFORMANCE TENNIS TRAINING GROUP: Players receive a balanced approach of high performance training, private instruction and both small and large group environments. HP Training groups will train in a strict 6:1 ratio for optimum performance. By invitation only. Players must test into program. Available to Junior Academy and Competitive Academy students. JUNIOR ACADEMY 1 PRACTICE AND PLAY: This class is designed to focus on game play improvement for our entry Orange Ball level players. Classes will provide players with coach-run games and live play which allow participants to practice and develop skills they have learned. Players will have opportunities for individual practice as well as be introduced to game play in a team tennis environment. Games and matches will be played on a combination of 36 and 60 sized courts. Previous play experience required and is not appropriate for players who have not participated in our 36/Red Ball level classes (or equivalent). JUNIOR ACADEMY 1: This class is for players who are transitioning from the Red to Orange progression ball and court size. Players will be introduced to all court game shots such as approach shots and volleys! Focus is placed on learning to serve with proper service grip. The class requires instructor approval. JUNIOR ACADEMY 2: This class is for players who are transitioning from the Orange to Green progression ball and court size. Players will continue to develop all-court game skills in a games-based environment. Match play and fitness are also introduced as part of training to be a competitive player. This class requires instructor approval. JUNIORS BEGINNING TENNIS: This beginning tennis program will teach your child the basic fundamentals and skills of tennis in a fun and exciting class. Players will also learn basic match play strategies and how to keep score. JUNIORS INTERMEDIATE TENNIS: This is a class for players who’ve progressed through Beginning Juniors. The class involves a games based approach to improving fundamental techniques on a larger court with a faster tennis ball while developing vital athletic skills. NEW 15U LOCAL LEAGUE PLAY: Structured as a league with other players in the class, participants will get the opportunity to play in organized match play/tournament-style experience in both singles and doubles each week. This is a green ball and yellow ball level class. This league is specifically designed for players with little or no formal match play experience, but players are have skills required to rally, serve and keep score. NEW 15U INTRODUCTION TO MATCHPLAY: Designed for players who are ready to start playing matches from the full court. Weekly matches allow players multiple opportunities to gain valuable experience in a match setting. Coaches will ensure players understand scoring and match formats for both singles and doubles through the season. End-of-session will culminate with bracket and/or round-robin tournament play for all players in the session. Players must be able to serve from the baseline and certified as a green or yellow ball (full court) level. Free evaluation by TDA staff is available to certify player’s level if needed.
