Instructor: Lesa Medley Location: At Your Computer Wed. 6:00PM - 8:00PM 10 mtgs. 6/23-8/25 $140 NATURE ACTIVITIES Nature Activities with Greg Meyer REDWOOD CREEK KAYAK . The South SF Bay is a great beginner’s paddle in the marshlands next to Redwood Creek. Harbor seals and many species of shorebirds are often spotted as we kayak quietly in the protected waterways around Bair Island. We will pull ashore for a midday lunch and a stretch before paddling home. No kayak experience is necessary. Full instruction will be given before the trip and we will be using stable double kayaks, ideal for beginning paddlers. FRANKLIN POINT HIKE. Just north of Santa Cruz is a stretch of the wild California Coast that has been preserved by state and federal decree for its natural beauty and unspoiled character. We will hike on the wide open beach looking for intertidal animals and then up to the marine terrace to search for unusual wildflowers. After a lunch break, we will walk back along the headland for a hike of about 5 miles total. FULL MOON KAYAK. Elkhorn Slough is one of California’s largest remaining coastal wetlands. This salt marsh is home to thousands of birds and numerous harbor seals and sea otters. We will spend an evening exploring the quiet waterways of the seven mile long slough, getting a unique look at the wildlife and flora of this preserve. As we paddle home at sunset, we will watch the moon rise over the hills of lovely Prunedale. Single or Double Kayaks are available. WINERY HIKE. This fall trip combines exercise for your body and palate! Our 5 mile roundtrip hike heads up the Zinfandel Trail in the Picchetti Preserve, with great views, native plants and fall foliage. At noon we will have lunch at the Picchetti Family Winery picnic grounds and participants can pay to have a small tasting before we hike back downhill.
