20 • Parks, Open Space & Cultural Services Commemorative Program The Commemorative Program offers a unique opportunity to provide funds to support and enhance Santa Cruz County Parks. Donations toward a commemorative feature honoring a loved one, celebrating a milestone, or demonstrating your community support are tax deductible. Commemorative Program donation options feature such items as trees, benches, picnic tables, pavers, and beautification of County parkland. Native tree species and specific bench and picnic table types are available for placement in County park, coastal access and beach locations. (plus a $2/hr. differential) There are limited positions (temporary/ extra help) available for summer day camps, as well as during the school year for events, classes, and other recreational programs. Substitute-leader positions are also available (temporary/extra help). Summer programs for children ages 6-12 years begin June 14 and run through August 6. PRCW I applicants (entry level) need no previous experience, just an interest in working with children. PRCW II-IV applicants must have 3-9 months of full- time experience working with 3-12 year-old children in a school or recreation program setting. Head Lifeguard, Lifeguard $15.60-$28.92/hr. (plus a $2/hr. differential) All positions are extra-help. Lifeguards receive an additional $1.25/hr. when teaching lessons. Park Services Officer $14.82-$16.67/hr. (plus a $2/hr. differential) Learn the principles and techniques of assisting and protecting the public in the use of County park and recreation facilities. Provide routine information to the public regarding park facility usage. Work schedules include weekends, holidays and evenings and may fluctuate depending on season or condition.
