Las Positas College | Fall 2021 Class Schedule

4 Dear Students, We have been working diligently to provide a careful plan for reintroducing additional face-to-face classes on campus this fall. We look forward to eventually welcoming all of our students and employees back to campus through careful planning and practical guidelines. We’ve learned a lot from the challenges of the past year, especially the importance of remaining agile. As we enact our plans to return to our campus, the college will continue to act per the guidelines of state and local health officials and make decisions that prioritize student, staff, and faculty health and safety. The college is well prepared to provide you with excellent instruction and high-quality support services during these unprecedented times. In our planning, we’ve created a flexible framework that allows us to move forward thoughtfully and adjust as deemed necessary. As the fall semester approaches, we will continue to monitor the situation and update our plans as needed. Our fall 2021 planning is based on the following: • The majority of courses for fall 2021 will be offered virtually. • Some courses that are considered hard-to-convert (i.e. require a performance, physical activity, lab or demonstration of skills) will be scheduled for face-to-face instruction for the full 17-week semester, starting in August • A selection of popular general education courses will be scheduled as face-to-face courses as part of our 8-week fast track course offerings, starting in October. On September 27th, if Alameda County has not reached or maintained the ORANGE tier or better, these face-to-face fast track courses will be transitioned online or to a hybrid format. Flexibility will be important should public health conditions worsen. • All face-to-face courses will adhere to state and county guidelines regarding classroom capacities and social distancing. • A number of academic support resources and student services departments will offer in-person services on campus. Please check our college website for additional information. • If you plan to attend class or receive support services on campus, please be mindful that Las Positas College is adhering to the most up-to-date county and state public health orders, which currently include: conducting a health self-assessment before accessing campus, properly wearing a face mask covering both your nose and mouth, maintaining social distancing, washing your hands often, and if you feel sick, to please stay home. • The college has appointed a task force that will oversee and monitor the implementation of our fall opening protocols and the Covid-19 Safety Plans for Las Positas College. I want to acknowledge the profound impact this past year has had on all members of our campus community and recognize the disproportionate impact it has had on many communities. Thank you for your continued flexibility, resilience and commitment to pursuing your educational goals. I wish you a very successful fall 2021 semester. Sincerely, Dyrell Foster, Ed.D.
