Chabot College • Fall 2021 Class Schedule 7 510.723.6600 • www.chabotcollege.edu FINANCIAL AID HOW ELIGIBILITY IS DETERMINED To be considered eligible for federal and most state aid programs, a stu- dent must meet basic criteria (See CA Dream Act if Undocumented) : • Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate. • Declare a major – Be admitted and enrolled as a regular student in an eligible certificate, associate degree or transfer program at Chabot. If admitted to LPC, you will not be funded by Chabot, regardless of number of classes enrolled here. • Transfer students should select major code 4946 – Liberal Arts and Sciences Transfer if no other major applies. • Be either a US citizen or eligible non-citizen (i.e. permanent resident, resident alien, or refugee). • Establish financial need by FAFSA application and verification process, providing all requested documents. • Not be in default on federal student loan nor owe repayment on federal student grant. • Be registered with the Selective Service as required. • Establish academic eligibility by making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) according to financial aid policy, to include review of prior academic transcripts received by the college. Your financial need is based on the FAFSA and verification documents you submit. The FAO verifies the accuracy of your application, and determines the type and amount of aid for which you qualify. The FAO will send you an email upon awarding or when awards change, referring you to CLASS-web, which will show you types and amounts of aid you are eligible to receive. See “Important Things to Know” for details and about disbursements. REPAYMENT OF FUNDS Federal law requires students repay a portion of the federal funds re - ceived if they withdraw or stop attending before the 60% point of the term, even if the withdrawal is not determined until after the end of the term. If you cannot provide documentation from your instructors of the last date of attendance for each class, you may have to repay all grant aid received during that semester. A hold will be placed on all academic and financial aid services until repayment is made. CALIFORNIA DREAM ACT Out-of-state and undocumented students may pay CA resident tu- ition rates if they qualify under AB540, and may be eligible to ap - ply for the CA College Promise Grant (Fee Waiver), entitlement Cal Grants, Chafee and other forms of CA state aid. Citizenship Status Complete THIS Application US Citizen - Born in U.S. or Naturalized Citizen (Birth Certificate, U.S. Passport, Naturalization Certificate) FAFSA Permanent Resident (Resident Alien card) FAFSA (Do NOT do CA) Undocumented AB540 (no permanent Social Security Number, or has SS card with “valid for work only,” “not valid for employment”) – must petition A&R for AB540 classification, even if DACA status would allow for CA residency. CA Dream App Foreign (visa) students and undocumented students who do not qualify for AB540 are ineligible for any form of federal or state financial aid. For more information about BankMobile, visit this link: https://bankmobiledisbursements.com/refundchoices/. A Refund Selection Kit is mailed to each new student who submits a FAFSA to Chabot, via U.S. mail to the primary address on file with the college. You will also receive an email from BankMobile containing your Personal Code. Please be sure that A&R has your most current mailing address on file. The Refund Selection Kit will be in a bright green envelope with instructions on how to select your refund preference. REFUND CHOICES NEW STUDENTS Your refund choices include: 1) Deposit to an existing account – Money is transferred to an existing account the same business day BankMobile receives funds from your school. Typically, it takes 1-2 business days for the receiving bank to credit the money to your account. 2) Deposit to a BankMobile Vibe Checking Account – If you open a BankMobile Vibe Checking Account (upon identity verification), money is deposited the same business day BankMobile receives funds from your school. RETURNING STUDENTS If you have already selected your refund preference and are a continuing student, please ensure that you will receive your refunds on time by completing the FAFSA early, monitoring your ZoneMail and CLASS-web , and following up early with FAO to complete your file. VERIFYING CUSTOMER ID PROGRAM (CIP) & PASSWORD/PIN RETRIEVAL There is a dedicated (red) phone line and computer in Online Student Services for BankMobile customer assistance . If BankMobile sends you a notification about certifying your CIP, follow the instructions in the email they sent you. You can send a copy of your ID or other document/s requested from you by taking a picture or by scanning it. You can then upload it directly to the BankMobile site by logging in to your account. PASSWORD/PIN RETRIEVAL BankMobile has made the retrieval of your forgotten website account password and PINmuch simpler. Go to www.chabotdebitcard.com and first make sure that you “reset password” if you are unable to log in. Check the email you used to select your BankMobile Refund preference and click on the hyperlink the system generates. The link they generate will allow you to automatically create a new password. For your card PIN Retrieval, upon signing into your BankMobile Account, go to “profile” and select “password/pin” to reset your pin.
