Napa Wine Train Enjoy a soup or salad, choice of entre, and move to our lounge car where you’ll enjoy a choice of dessert while you enjoy a 3-hour train ride in a 100-year-old vintage rail car through Napa Wine Country. Afterward, explore on your own at the Oxbow Market, where they have a variety of desserts, cheeses and wine. Activity Level 2: Moderate Activity Wed. 8:00AM - 6:30PM 1 mtg. 10/27 $225 Travel Time with Gary Holloway Gary will lead off with a short telling of his many worldwide travel experiences and will answer any questions about them you may have. Then, he will invite anyone else to share with us their lifelong travel experiences and stories. The more, the better. Staff will be providing us with a delicious lunch to complement our session of sharing. So, start thinking of your life experiences to share with us, and comb through your photo albums and travel diaries. This will be a very special time to renew old friendships and bond over our life stories. Safari West Discover the wildest Africa in the heart of wine country! At Safari West, every day means adventure as we journey out in search of herds of wildebeest, romping rhinos, and towering giraffes. From ring-tailed lemurs to the dazzling zebra, nearly 900 animals from over 90 unique species roam through our 400- acre preserve. All that’s missing is you. A buffet lunch is included on your trip. Activity Level 2: Moderate Activity Wed. 8:00AM - 7:00PM 1 mtg. 8/25 $199 San Francisco Crime Tour with Gary Holloway San Francisco has been infamous for all manner of crimes since the Gold Rush in the mid-1800’s. On this tour, led by Gary Holloway, we will visit the scenes of many of the most notorious, commencing with the Zodiac and Zebra killings. Along the way we’ll find the original People’s Temple of Jim Jones, as well as the Chinatown restaurant where a massacre occurred. The Golden Gate Bridge, City Hall assassinations, and murderous waterfront protests will also be covered. Come along with us to discover a different aspect of “everyone’s favorite City. Enjoy a hosted lunch at the legendary John’s Grill, home of the Maltese Falcon, and a favorite haunt of famed mystery writer Dashiell Hammet. Activity Level 2: Moderate Activity Wed. 8:30AM - 5:30PM 1 mtg. 9/22 $150 Filoli Gardens and The Foster Museum The estate took a community of people to create and sustain and was built as a labor of love by many people, most of whom migrated or immigrated to the area to build a better life. The tour includes a behind-the-scenes visit to the historic staff vegetable gardens and living quarters. Enjoy an Italian lunch at Cafe Bono before heading off to The Foster! The Foster is a quiet, contemplative space in which to take a breath from regular life and experience beautiful art and inspiring wilderness journeys. The 14,000 square-foot venue opened in 2016 with a mission to share British artist-explorer Tony Foster’s watercolor diaries and inspire reflection, discussion, and education about art, wilderness, and the natural world. It is our hope that The Foster will be added to your destination list of “local attractions” that you share with your residents.
