2 • Parks, Open Space & Cultural Services The end of fall signals a time of transition with a new year approaching and the changing of the seasons. As the metrics for COVID-19 cases continues to lessen in our county, we are excited to embark on new and fresh beginnings, welcoming back more members of the community to our County Park facilities. You may have even noticed several special events have already returned, including Parks & Rex in August, Floating Pumpkin Patch in October, and multiple collaborative outdoor movie nights in our local area parks. Additionally, we are in the planning stages of offering more courses and activities at our facilities and out in our parks for all members of our community. We offer many sports camps for youth, diverse classes for all community members, and are again working with Collette Vacations to offer vacation trip packages for older adults. We look forward to continued expansion to our programs, services, and special events in the new year. We have many exciting projects to look forward to being started or completed in 2022 including installation of a new playground at Hidden Beach County Park, renovation to the lap pool at Simpkins Family Swim Center, renovating the sports courts at Willowbrook Park and more! Finally, I want to extend a special thank you to our amazing Santa Cruz County Parks staff members, docents and volunteers who work diligently to maintain our parks and playgrounds, establish spring and after school programs, and reopen our facilities.
