These rights are: 1. The right to inspect and review the student’s educa Ɵ on records within 45 days of the day the College receives a request for access. Students should submit to the Director of Admissions and Records, a wri Ʃ en request that iden Ɵ fi es the record(s) they wish to inspect. The Director will make arrangements for access and no Ɵ fy the student of the Ɵ me and place where the records may be inspected. If the records are not maintained by the Director of Admissions and Records, they shall advise the student of the correct o ffi cial to whom the request should be addressed. 2. The right to request the amendment of the student’s educa Ɵ on records that the student believes is inaccurate or misleading. Students may ask the College to amend a record that they believe is inaccurate or misleading. They should write the Director of Admissions and Records or College o ffi cial responsible for the record, clearly iden Ɵ fy the part of the record they want changed, and specify why it is inaccurate or misleading. If the College decides not to amend the record as requested by the student, the College will no Ɵ fy the student of the decision and advise the student of his or her right to a hearing regarding the request for amendment. Addi Ɵ onal informa Ɵ on regarding the hearing procedures will be provided to the student when no Ɵ fi ed of the right to a hearing. 3. The right to consent to disclosures of personally iden Ɵ fi able informa Ɵ on contained in the student’s educa Ɵ on records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent. One excep Ɵ on, which permits disclosure without consent, is disclosure to school o ffi cials with legi Ɵ mate educa Ɵ onal interests. A school o ffi cial is de fi ned as a person employed by Chabot-Las Positas Community College District in an administra Ɵ ve, supervisory, academic, or support sta ff posi Ɵ on (including law enforcement unit and health sta ff ); a person or company with whom the College or District has contracted (such as an a Ʃ orney, auditor, or collec Ɵ on agent); a person serving on the Board of Trustees; or a person assis Ɵ ng another school o ffi cial in performing his or her tasks. A school o ffi cial has a legi Ɵ mate educa Ɵ onal interest if the o ffi cial needs to review an educa Ɵ on record in order to ful fi ll his or her professional du Ɵ es and responsibili Ɵ es. Upon request, the College discloses educa Ɵ on records without consent to o ffi cials of another school in which a student seeks or intends to enroll. While the college does not provide general student directory services, it may release the following informa Ɵ on about a student without consent: name, address, telephone number, date of birth, major fi eld of study, photos, degrees and awards received and dates of a Ʃ endance. Any student who does not wish such informa Ɵ on to be released about him/herself shall no Ɵ fy Admissions and Records O ffi ce in wri Ɵ ng annually, no later than 10 school days a Ō er the start of the term. Chabot College does not release student informa Ɵ on for individual use, private business or commercial fi rms for use in adver Ɵ sing and publicity. If a student has a concern, they have the right to fi le a complaint with the US Department of Educa Ɵ on concerning alleged failures by the college to comply with the requirements of FERPA.
