MUS 34 MUSIC IN FILM 3.0 Units The class traces the history and development of film music through reading, lecture and film viewing. The class studies the process of film scoring and how music and its relationship to film have changed over the last century. Class includes discussion and evaluation of different compositional styles and learning to listen critically to film scores while viewing movies. MUS 37 MUSIC BUSINESS 3.0 Units Career opportunities and business practices in the music industry. Focus on career options and development, artist management, unions, music merchandising, music for film and digital media, and concert promotion. NONCREDIT BIOLOGY NBIO 201 BIOTECHNOLOGY 1 0.0 Units In Biotechnology 1, students will get a chance to utilize some basic molecular biology tools used in biotech to observe and measure cells, viruses, proteins and DNA. Students will learn laboratory skills associated with pipetting, DNA sample preparation, gel electrophoresis, and ELISA. There will also be guest scientists who will provide a glimpse of life in a biotech lab. NBIO 202 BIOTECHNOLOGY 2 0.0 Units In Biotechnology 2, students will utilize advanced molecular biology tools used in biotech to observe and measure cells, viruses, proteins and DNA. Students will learn more advanced laboratory skills, such as those associated with PCR, protein assays, and CRISPR. There will also be guest scientists who will provide information about careers in the biotechnology industry. NONCREDIT CIS NCIS 201 CYBERSECURITY CAMP 0.0 Units This course will introduce the novice to cybersecurity career opportunities, cyber ethics, online safety, and cyber threats. Students will be introduced to cybersecurity principles, virtual machines, basic Windows and Linux administration security policies, fundamental CISCO network routing and CISCO packet tracer. As a culminating activity students will compete by analyzing and fixing vulnerabilities on the provided Windows and Linux images. NCIS 201B CYBERSECURITY ADVANCED SKILLS 0.0 Units This course will build upon the intro to cybersecurity camp. Review cybersecurity career opportunities, cyber ethics, online safety, and cyber threats. Students will build upon cybersecurity principles, virtual machines, basic Windows and Linux administration security policies, fundamental CISCO network routing and CISCO packet tracer. As a culminating activity students will compete by analyzing and fixing vulnerabilities on the provided Windows and Linux images. NONCREDIT MATH NMAT 200C CONCURRENT SUPPORT SLAM MATH 0.0 Units Concurrent Support for SLAM Math is for students interested in disciplines that require Statistics and Liberal Arts Mathematics (SLAM) courses. This course offers structured support to students who are concurrently enrolled in a first-level transfer course, such as Statistics and Mathematics for Liberal Arts, and Finite Mathematics. The support course includes material to prepare students for the rigor of the transfer math course by teaching learning skills necessary to succeed in college courses as well as review of relevant prerequisite algebraic and geometric concepts, and more in-depth investigation of core concepts in their concurrent math course. Corequisite: MATH 40 or MATH 47 or MATH 33 This is a STRONGLY RECOMMENDED support course for students currently enrolled in Math 33, Math 40 or Math 47. NMAT 256 GEOMETRY 0.0 Units Topics include congruence, similarity, right triangles, trigonometry, circles, expressing geometric properties with equations, geometric measurement and dimension, modeling with geometry, conditional probability and the rules of probability, and using probability to make decisions. Prerequisite: MATH 110 or NMAT 210 with a minimum grade of C This course is intended for students in or entering high school to accelerate their math pathway.
