The Chabot College Puente Project is a two semester program that blends writing, counseling and mentoring with a curriculum that focuses on Mexican American/Latinx History, authors and issues. The Puente Project is an academic preparation program that has improved the college-going rate of tens of thousands of California’s educationally underserved students. Its mission is to increase the number of educationally underserved students who: Enroll in four-year colleges and universities; Earn college degrees; Return to the community as mentors and leaders of future generations. Whether you have ever been to juvenile hall, jail or prison, or impacted by a relative who has, the RISE Program is here for you. We provide a stigma-free environment where RISE Scholars can study, learn and grow on their path from reentry through graduation and beyond. We provide peer mentorship, and connect our students with college and community based resources so they can achieve their educational, personal and career goals. This program addresses students’ needs through academic support services and curriculum focused on African American history, literature, and culture.
