6 East Side Adult Education - Fall 2025 GED and High School Equivalency GED/HISET EQUIVALENCY DIPLOMA GED DISTANCE LEARNING It is required that students have a good computer or laptop, with an operable camera and audio system. Efficiency on emails and the internet is a must! You must be self-motivated and enthusiastic about your studies, as this is mainly Independent work. It is highly recommended that you study 10-12 hours/week to achieve your goal in a timely fashion. A minimum of 6 hours/week is required to maintain your place in Distance Learning! Your instructor will oversee your lessons and enhance your learning plan with assignments. All students will have access to abundant resources, for all subjects, at all times. Conferencing with your Instructor (Your Coach) is necessary to discuss your “Readiness” for testing. COMMUNICATION is part of the requirement. Tutoring will be available by appointment and suggested, when necessary. Skill Building classes are also available. Pre and Post tests will be provided, along with “Practice Tests” and “Official Test” enrollment. Getting Started: Students will be required to take a Placement Test at Independence Adult Center, 625 Educational Park Drive, San Jose, CA 95133. Please call (408) 928-9300 to schedule an appointment with a counselor and to take a Placement Test to determine your level of learning. Once accepted into the GED Distance Learning Program, students will be contacted by the online Instructor and sent the Student Agenda, plus other instructions. This will help students with the process of getting started. Class is Free and so are Resources!
