Pilates is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. Anyone can do Pilates and see the benefits in a short amount of time. May include the use of equipment such as stability balls, resistance bands, and weights. The focus is on developing better posture, body control and proper breathing, while also reducing tension and strengthening your body. Please bring a yoga mat to each class. Yoga is a great way to reduce muscle tension, increase range of motion, promote circulation, gain strength, and help prevent injuries. By meditating, focusing on your breath and stretching your muscles, a yoga practice also cultivates a wonderful sense of inner peace and serenity. Layered clothing is encouraged. This session is led by Nicole Martinovich, facilitator and coordinator of the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program and Diabetes Empowerment & Education program at the YMCA.
