Oakland Museum – Guided Tour of The Art of Burning Man Exhibition and More! No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man contains experimental art installations which are the centerpiece for innovators, mak- ers, and a burgeoning artistic community who gather for the weeklong Burning Man event in the desert each year, attracting over 70,000 people. The exhibition illuminates the values of Burning Man through its guiding Ten Principles: Radical Inclu- sion, Gifting, Decommodification, Radical Self-reliance, Radical Self-expression, Communal Effort, Civic Responsibility, Leaving No Trace, Participation, and Immediacy. The immersive and multi-sensory experience extends beyond the gallery walls into the Museum’s public spaces—including an OMCA-commis- sioned 40-foot-tall outdoor temple by internationally-acclaimed sculptor David Best. Of course, no trip to the Oakland Museum would be complete without visiting the California art, history & natural sciences gal- leries. Also, another special exhibition to explore on your own is ¡El Movimiento Vivo! Chicano Roots of El Día de los Muertos, which honors and explores the lesser-known origins of Day of the Dead, and the ways these traditions continue to inspire so- cial and political change today. Lastly, debuting on the day of our visit is Black Power, a new addition to the Gallery of California History, which uncovers the history of the Black Power move- ments in California. Oakland Museum – Adults & children – Age 7+ Sa 2/8 8:30 AM-5:30 PM $68/$75 #7739 Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum Tour, Wine Tasting & More Learn about the history of mercury mining in this area during this informative tour of Casa Grande & New Almaden. We’ll begin with a 1-hr. guided tour inside “the big house” which once boasted 27 rooms. It now serves in part to preserve the history of the role it served in the 1870-80s as the home of mine managers and as a museum exhibiting the life of miners at the time. Next, a guide will join us on our bus and narrate as we meander through New Almaden past its historic houses, buildings and areas of historical interest. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the lovely picnic area on site at the Casa Grande. Next, we’ll board the bus and head to Chitactac-Adams Heritage Park. There we will enjoy a less than .25 mile tour of the grounds, which offer a unique view into the Native American culture of Santa Clara County before and after the arrival of Spanish settlers. The park features beautiful Uvas Creek and a wealth of cultural artifacts including bedrock mortars and petroglyphs left by the Ohlone Indians. Before heading home, we will stop in Morgan Hill for winetasting at Sycamore Creek Vineyards, a small family-owned winery producing award-winning wines, and Kirigin Cellars, founded in 1916 and part of the first generation of wineries in California’s wine country. Trip fee includes tastings at both wineries and a complimentary Kirigin Cellars bottle of wine for each person in attendance. Please note: We will be boarding & disembarking the bus several times throughout the day. Santa Clara County, CA - Age 30+ Th 4/23 7:30 AM-6:30 PM $89/$98 #7740 28 ADULT & SENIOR ACTIVITIES
