Includes basic and advanced administrative skills which are utilized when working in a medical office. Prerequisite: HLTH 51A (same as APHC 9701A) Must pass with a “C” or better, MEDA 60 Must pass with a “C” or better. MEDA 71B ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS II 2 Units Continuation of administrative theory and skills. Includes medical insurance, medical coding and billing techniques used in a medical office. Also includes resume writing and job search preparation. Prerequisite: MEDA 71A. Must pass with a “C” or better. MEDA 73 CLINICAL EXPERIENCE PRACTICUM 4 Units Application of principles and skills through participation in a simulated employment experience. Assisting the physician under close supervision in a health maintenance organization, or physician’s office or clinic. Prerequisit MEDA 70B Must be passed with a “C” or better, MEDA 71B Must be passed with a “C” or better, HLTH 51B (same as APHC 9701B) Must be passed with a “C” or better, MEDA 76 Must pass with a “C” or better, Corequisite: MEDA 74. MEDA 74 CLINICAL EXPERIENCE SEMINAR 1 Unit Discussion and analysis of clinical experience in a clinic setting or private physician’s office. Prerequisite: MEDA 70B Must pass with a “C” or better, MEDA 71B Must be passed with a “C” or better, MEDA 76 Must be passed with a “C” or better, HLTH 51B (same as APHC 9701B) Must pass with a “C” or better, Corequisite: MEDA 73. MEDA 75 ADMIN OF MEDICATIONS FOR MED ASSIST 2 Units Pharmacology fundamentals for medical assisting. Discuss the different routes of medication administration including oral and injections. Understanding drug categories, safe administration practices and documentation. Corequisite: MEDA 70A, Prerequisite: HLTH 51A (same as APHC 9701A) Must be passed with a “C” or better, MEDA 60 Must be passed with a “C” or better. MUSIC RECORDING TECHNOLOGY Whether it’s working in a post-production house, recording studio or your own home studio, we have a hands-on Music Technology & Production AA degree that will teach you all the needed skills. We also offer an Audio Recording certificate as well as a Music Production certificate. As a Music Recording and Technology student, you’ll be working in a professional environment with instructors that have worked in the industry. Chabot College has one of the finest recording studios in the Bay Area with a fully integrated control room, live room and three isolation booths to accomplish large-scale recordings sessions. Housed in these studios are an array of high-quality instruments for sound exploration. Some of these instruments include six high-quality guitars and basses, modern and vintage keyboards, analog synthesizers, a custom drum kit and a grand piano. MURT 20 INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC TECHNOLOGY 3 Units Fundamentals of digital audio manipulation, recording and production within industry-standard digital audio workstation software. Introduction to MIDI sequencing, digital signal processing and audio editing. MURT 21 AUDIO RECORDING I 3 Units Fundamentals of audio recording and the digital audio workstation. Basic acoustics, principles of analog and digital audio basics, studio set-up, microphone technique, basic mixing techniques and digital audio workstation fundamentals. Prerequisite: MURT 20 (completed with a grade of “C” or higher) MURT 22A ELECTRONIC MUSIC I 3 Units Fundamentals of electronic music production and MIDI sequencing. Prerequisite: MURT 20. MURT 22B ELECTRONIC MUSIC II 3 Units The integration of MIDI and digital audio recording environments will be studied as well as the development of advanced post production skills needed for employment in the music recording industry. Prerequisite: MURT 22A (completed with a grade of “C” or higher) MURT 23 AUDIO RECORDING II 3 Units Advanced studio recording techniques. Prerequisite: MURT 21 (completed with a grade of “C” or higher) MURT 26 MUSIC BUSINESS 3 Units Overview of music business topics. Focus on development of the knowledge base and individual resources necessary to begin a successful career in the music industry. MURT 50 MUSIC INDUSTRY INTERNSHIP 1 Unit Music industry internship experience. Instructor approval required. Prerequisite: MURT 20, MURT 26. MUSIC - APPLIED Whether you are aiming for a degree in music, or wanting to develop your skills to work in the music industry, or just further your understanding and appreciation of the musical arts, the Chabot College Music Department offers courses to serve your every interest and need. To aid in the positive development of the whole person the music faculty and curriculum pursue the following goals: 1. To provide an environment in which performance, composition, musical literacy and technology are integrated. The synthesis of these elements will prepare the student for a musical career as a performer, writer, teacher, producer, engineer, or business person. 2. To offer a coherent musical education curriculum that provides knowledge and understanding of musical forms and styles. Students should be able to recognize the importance of music to their society and enable them to have a more informed world view. 3. To recognize music as a multi-cultural and multi-national Art which fosters, through its performance, a respect for the diversity of all peoples, beliefs, and expressions. 4. To help students to see education as a life-long-learning process which permits one to see and think clearly and that this process is of greater importance than the transfer of information from teacher to student. MUSA 20A GUITAR I 1 Unit Beginning guitar using a combination of folk and classic approaches to playing technique, utilizing basic scales and chords in first position, and music notation.
