20 East Side Adult Education - Fall 2022 CAREER EDUCATION Career Education DUAL ENROLLMENT (ESL&CTE) English Language Learners students will co-enroll in ESL & CTE programs. IET courses will contextualize literacy, workforce training, and workforce preparation skills simultaneously. Intro to Microsoft Office Essentials Skills (MOE) - Excel English Language Learners students will co-enroll in ESL & CTE programs: Intro to Microsoft Office Essentials Skills (MOE) - Word will contextualize literacy, workforce training, and workforce preparation skills simultaneously. The course is designed to meet English language proficiency needs and how to use Word features to create business documents and resumes, create promotional brochures and reports. Accounting and Bookkeeping - IET (New offering) English Language Learners will coenroll in ESL & CTE programs.The course will contextualize literacy, workforce training, and workforce preparation skills simultaneously. English Language Learners will learn the basic accounting equation, debit and credit & financial statements. Students will develop general knowledge of payroll processing and accounting. The class will create an opportunity andpathways for students to move into CTE Accounting 1A. NEW SATURDAY CLASS ESL for the Workplace and Career Exploration In partnership with San Jose Community College, this class will be offered to students on Saturday mornings at the Alum Rock Library. Students will study listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for a variety of tasks associated with workplaces. This course will be offered in two sessions. Session one will cover workplace skills and session two will cover career exploration. Each session will be eight (8) weeks. Recommended Preparation: It is recommended that the student has completed higher levels of Adult Education ESL courses.
