8 East Side Adult Education - Spring 2023 Grail Family Services and CalWORKs GRAIL FAMILY SERVICES CalWORKs stands for the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids program. It is California’s Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Program and provides temporary cash aid and assistance in finding and keeping a job. A major goal of the program is to transition CalWORKs recipients to employment and eventual selfsufficiency through upward mobility. When receiving CalWORKs cash aid, the family also receives Medi-Cal and may be eligible for Food Stamp benefits. GFS provides a comfortable, culturally and linguistically sensitive environment where families learn together and build a network of support with others in the community. Adult Education Enrollment Process 1. Call or come to the Office to schedule a placement test. 2. After the placement test you will be scheduled to see a counselor OR scheduled for a class. 3. In some cases, you will receive a postcard in the mail when you have been added to a class and can begin attending.
